Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee 

Committee Introduction

          The Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee is a unique organization great for delegates of all backgrounds. Delegates will learn the valuable skills of diplomacy and collaboration, through thorough research and organized debate on the pressing topics of preserving dying languages and improving the life quality of prisoners. They will discuss matters such as: the prior colonization of nations, previous genocide of marginalized peoples, rehabilitation centers for prisoners, and how to manage funding for people post incarceration.

  • Chair

          Nuala Crowley is a Junior at Bellarmine Preparatory school and the chair of SOCHUM for this iteration of BELLARMUN. She started Model UN because as a fun outlet to be able to collaborate with others and work towards developing solutions to real issues. She got her start to Model UN when she was in seventh grade, at BELLARMUN 2022. In her free time she enjoys working out, spending time with friends, golfing, and reading. She is very excited to see everyone at BELLARMUN X!

    Clare Walsh is a Senior at Bellarmine and she is ecstatic to be serving as the Director of the SOCHUM! Clare first began her Model UN journey back at BELLARMUN 2020. Even through the one and only Zoom iteration of Bellarmine’s middle school conference, her first look at model UN had her hooked on diplomacy and passionate debate.

    Outside of debate Clare can be found on the softball field representing the Lady Lions Fast-pitch  program or in the pool where she has taught swim lessons the past 3 years. In addition to her sport and job, Clare’s hobbies include thrifting, cooking, and hanging out with her friends and family. Clare hopes the BELLARMUN 2026 will be able to inspire new delegates just like it inspired her. Allowing for intellectual discussions and diplomatic engagement.  She is so excited to see you in Committee!

  • Assistant Director

    Jamison Leet is a freshman that is exhilarated to serve as the Assistant Director of SOCHUM at B. fell in love with the wonderful world of Model UN during last-year's BELLARMUN conference. Since then, he has gone to 2 more conferences, won awards at both, and plans to attend many more conferences throughout his high school career. In his free time, Jamison enjoys playing video games, playing board games with his family, and cooking. Jamison is very happy to join the amazing staff of BELLARMUN X to bring an amazing Model UN experience to all of you!

  • Flex Staffer

    Harley is a sophomore at Bellarmine and is ecstatic to be a Flex Staffer of SOCHUM this year! She enjoys Model United Nations because it allows her to meet new people, spend time with friends, and strengthen her skills of communication. Harley is an active member of her school community, seen through the many extracurriculars she is involved in such as cheerleading, track and field, film club, and theater. Outside of school she enjoys reading, hiking, and spending quality time with friends and family. Harley hopes BELLARMUN X will allow delegates to grow more confident in themselves and their Model United Nations skills. She can’t wait to see you at the conference and you’ll grow to love Model United Nations as much as she does!
